Abstract: Based on the extended homogenous balance method, we get a Backlund transformation to the regularized long wave (RLW) equation. By applying our Backlund transformation and a given trivial solution, we find some explicit solutions of the RLW equation, such as solitary wave, periodic, rational and elliptic function solutions.
