Abstract: The analysis of the influence of random frequency fluctuation on bistatic SAR resolution is presented, shows that Gaussian function can be used as optimum weighting function to get the best achievable root mean square resolution. The closed-form result of the best achievable root mean square resolution is given. The results of simulation show that the closed-form expression can evaluate bistatic SAR resolution accurately, provide a basis for practical system design.
