Abstract:
By analyzing the fast handoff scheme of standard MIPv6, a proposal (NFMIPv6) for the rapid switch of MIPv6 is presented basing on the neighbor information table structure. When the MN (mobile node) is moved out from the area coved by an AP (access point), its access target area is limited and can be predicted in advance. By means of the pre-allocation and periodic update, the MN is able to obtain the neighbour information table structure earlier from the limited target area. By AP information provided by the switching algorithm of NFMIPv6 and the real-time update of the neighbor information table, the MN can detect the new subnet where it is going to move rapidly when it is connected with the current subnet. The time for the uniqueness detection of the delivery address and the time for the delay detection can be reduced in the switching process. The stimulation research shows that this system does not occupy additional network resources but reduces the ping-pong exchange and the time for the delay of the switch in the switching process. Therefore, it is a fast handoff scheme of MIPv6 with superior performances.
