Abstract: According to the APM specification, four types of power modes:Normal, Idle, Doze and Sleep based on the energy consumption management mechanism supported by hardware are presented. An energy consumption management module in embedded operating system to provide effective energy consumption management policies for application is also given. This paper also analyzes the energy consumption management strategies based on the energy consumption management policies of operating system to reduce the power consumption of system.
