Abstract: In this paper, a new method to measure the impact of the technical progress on aggregate growth of the economy is proposed by means of the input-output technique. Based on this method, the impact on aggregate growth of the total product is analyzed from the balanced growth of final demand, price change, structural change and technical progress. The calculating formula for measuring the contribution to growth of the total product due to the technical progress is put forward. Using the model and the data on 1987 and 1990 input-output table in Sichuan province,the technical progress in Sichuan from 1987 to 1990 is measured.
