Abstract
The electro-optic effect of a silica microfiber knot resonator (MKR) is studied. The characteristic of output optical spectrum is analyzed theoretically and experimentally. The experimental results show that the current sensitivity due to electro-optic effect is~500 pm/A. The wavelength shift due to the thermal drift of the wire is much smaller than that caused by the electro-optic effect. Such MKR has the advantages of high Q factor, compact size and low cost and therefore has potential value in developing tunable in-line fiber-optic filters and micro-current measurement for MEMS devices.
