Preliminary Studies on Developmental Anatomy of Seedless Mango Fruit

  • There is a anatropous ovules in the ovary of mango fruit with one player of integument, the development of embryo sac follows polygonum type. At anthesis, the embryo sac may be in the stage of eight nuclei. Degeneration of polar nuclei and antipodals are found in one or different ovules. The shrinkage or degeneration of embryo because of the lackage of nutrient and hormone results in seedlessness. The seed coat of seedless mango is thin and normally developed. The conducting tissue in the coat of seedless mango is normal.
