Study on Antioxidative Activities of Extraction from Loquat Peel and Mango Peel

  • It has been proved that free radicals not only decrease the nutritional value of food, but also destroy the membrane, enzyme, vitamin, protein and living cells. Natural antioxidant could safely scavenge the free radical and prevent oil from oxidizing. Extraction from loquat and mango peel showed strong antioxidative activities in different systems, including yolk lipoprotein and peanut oil. Two extractions could scavenge both hydroxyl radical (·OH) and active oxygen radicals (O·-) efficiently and safely. The antioxidant effect of extraction from mango peel is superior to that of loquat peel.
