Performance Analysis of Voice Quality Measurement on HF Channel

Some major methods of the voice quality measurement on HF channel are introduced. To improve the performance of measurement by SINAD evaluation, a new method of AI evaluation suggested by MIL-STD-187-721 is adopted and tested. Articulation Index (AI) is a parameter to indicate the intelligibility of speech sound,which is not verified experimentally.This paper design a test to check the AI validation. The measurement is made on a standard HF channel simulator based on Watterson's model. The result of the evaluation is collected and compared with that of the SINAD evaluation. Since there is a little difference between those two methods, it is not necessary to adopt the AI evaluation on voice quality measurement on HF channel.
