Performance Analysis of Voice Quality Measurement on HF Channel

  • Some major methods of the voice quality measurement on HF channel are introduced. To improve the performance of measurement by SINAD evaluation, a new method of AI evaluation suggested by MIL-STD-187-721 is adopted and tested. Articulation Index (AI) is a parameter to indicate the intelligibility of speech sound,which is not verified experimentally.This paper design a test to check the AI validation. The measurement is made on a standard HF channel simulator based on Watterson's model. The result of the evaluation is collected and compared with that of the SINAD evaluation. Since there is a little difference between those two methods, it is not necessary to adopt the AI evaluation on voice quality measurement on HF channel.
