Japan develops rapidly in the field of free-space laser communications By using the ETS-VI/LCE system, an optical link between GEO and optical ground station is established The data and results obtained from the system accelerate the application of free-space laser communication technique This paper summarizes the development of free-space laser communications of Japan and its ETS-VI/LCE system.
