Abstract: The effective bandwidth calculation methods of short-range dependent traffic and self-similar traffic are given. The relationship among buffer size, packet lost rate and effective bandwidth utilization is analyzed. The advanced performance of effective bandwidth-based source distribution in the networks design is pointed out. The simulation results show that effective bandwidth of self-similar traffic' are more well QoS than short-range dependent traffic effective bandwidths.
