Abstract: In this paper, the reason why Internet network can not provide quality of service is analyzed, and the according issues are discussed. Some proposed techniques to guarantee the quality of service in IP networks are briefly overviewed. Based on these discussions, this paper uses ATM technology to improve quality of service of IP traffic. Through a deeper view and comparison of some propsed schemes, a new queueing algorithm to guarantee the quality of service of IP traffic is proposed. The performance of the proposed algorithm is proved through simulation.
