Abstract:
Scale-free networks and related concepts including power-law distribution and preferential attachment mechanism are core concepts in network science. Researches on these concepts have a long history, but there are still some debates by now. The paper aims at reveal the links among some important historic researches on these concepts from a network perspective, including reveal the fundamental works of Price that had been neglected for a long time. This paper introduces and discusses some controversial issues on these concepts, including quarrels between Simon and Mandelbrot around mechanisms for power law in the middle of 20th century, and recently debates on whether scale-free networks are rich or rare. Finally, the paper discusses future researches on scale-free networks.

Abstract:
Knowledge graph technology is a critical part of artificial intelligence research. It establishes a knowledge base with the capacity of semantic processing and open interconnection in order to provide intelligent information service, such as search, question-answering, personalized recommendation, and so on. This article first presents a comprehensive study on definitions and architectures of knowledge graphs. Then we summarizes recent advances in knowledge graphs, including knowledge extraction, knowledge representation, knowledge fusion, and knowledge reasoning, with typical applications. Finally, this article concludes with future challenges of knowledge graphs.

Abstract:

Abstract:
With the advent of the era of big data, both the quantity and quality of economic activity related data have been enormously enriched and improved. By analyzing these large-scale data from socio-economic systems, we have the opportunity to quantify the status of economic development instantaneously and accurately with nearly no cost. In this paper, focusing on how big data reveal the status of economic development, we briefly summary the applications of different types of big data on quantifying macro-economic structures and micro-social status. Further, we discuss and provide some promising ways to apply big data to improve regional economic development strategies and upgrade macro industrial structures.

Abstract:
An on-chip soft-start circuit consisting of a ramp-up voltage generator and an error amplifier with soft-start function is presented. The ramp-up voltage with slow ramp rate is achieved with small capacitors by using techniques of pulse swallowing and pulse current charging. The ramp-up voltage generator shuts down automatically to save power after the start-up has finished. The controlling scheme of start-up is realized by just adding two extra transistors to the conventional error amplifier circuit. In the start-up period, the output voltage of the converter and the current of the inductor rise are slowly controlled by the error amplifier output voltage which follows the ramp-up voltage. When the start-up finishes, a smooth transition from start-up to the steady states is achieved without disturbance to the current of the inductor, which always happens in the conventional method by using transferring switch. The soft-start circuit is applied to a peak-current mode boost DC-DC converter implemented with CSMC 0.5 μm BCD process. Simulation results show that the inrush current during start-up is eliminated effectively, and the output voltage rises smoothly without overshoot. Moreover, a smooth transition to the steady states without disturbance is achieved. The soft-start circuit is compact and suitable for on-chip implementation.
